Donna was a good old-fashioned 1950’s name. No one names their baby that anymore. When my kids were little, I had a daycare provider named Donna, and she was recommended to me by a Donna. The conversation went like, “Hi, Donna. My name is Donna. I got your name from Donna.” It was a little silly. I was named Donna Lee (which was supposed to be like Mary Jane or Lou Ann). My Grandfather is the only one who ever called me Donna Lee. My Mom briefly considered calling me Donna Marie which I think is pretty and a little more distinctive, but she thought it was too Spanish so Donna Lee I became.
