Fifteen year old Jacob Barber is accused of murdering a classmate, a boy who has been bullying Jacob. Jacob’s father, Andy, is the assistant district attorney initially in charge of investigating the case. What lengths will the father go to to protect his child? The evidence seems to be stacking up against Jacob, and Andy himself has a past that he has closely guarded and kept secret even from his own wife.
I really enjoyed this book. The promised shocker of an ending really was a shocker. I am still saying, “wow!” I admired Andy’s dedication and devotion to his son even in the face of the damning evidence. As a parent it makes you stop and wonder if you would be so blindly devoted if faced with a similar situation.
This book was well-written and a little creepy at times, but if you like courtroom and family drama, you will enjoy this book.
