My son’s gluten free diet can be pretty limited at times.  He’s not a big fruit or vegetable eater so there’s not a lot of variety.  I try to bring home something different from time to time.  I keep hoping that we’ll find a real gem when I pick something new off of the shelves.

monkeymaybe“Cheeky Monkey (noun).  A light-hearted name for a sassy, mischievous, sometimes naughty, often witty character, who boldly says or does something slightly unconventional.”

I found these this week.  It says “Peanut Butter Puffs. Organic. Gluten Free.” I figured – why not?

My son did not like them.  He suggested I try one.  Imagine something with a texture and shape like a cheese puff.  It disintegrates when you eat it.  The outside is coated with a peanut butter flavoring.  I touched my tongue to one and it felt weird – kind-of cold.  I ate it, and it left a weird taste in my mouth, too.  My son asked me what we were going to do with them since we didn’t care for them.  I checked the ingredients – Organic Peanut Butter, Organic Corn, Organic Palm Oil, Salt.

Just for the heck of it, I tossed a few outside.  Huh.  Gluten free Squirrel food.  Sera thought they were great.
