We would all do well to remember this.

Fortunes are made every second and day
And likewise they fall, so quickly they sway.
One day you are rich, the next day you’re poor,
One day you have less while others have more.

We live in our castles and think that it’s grand
Not knowing all castles are made out of sand,
And years that it took for us to acquire
All the stuff that we own, gone in a fire.

Our fortunes in health can also decrease,
Especially with age that time won’t release,
But cyclones and earthquakes, tsunamis that raze,
Can leave us with nothing left worth to appraise.

Most fortunes will come and go like the rain
And generate hardship and financial pain,
But kindness, compassion, and love that you show
Are feelings of fortune wherever you go.
