An acrostic poem is one where the first letters of the lines spell out a word or words if you read them vertically.

I found this type of poem difficult to write.  I wanted to make it rhyme and found it difficult given the leading letters that I had to work with.

October roadside planter

OCTOBER

Outside, we notice a chillier day

Change for us is on its way

The days are getting shorter

Our calendar says fourth quarter

But look at the beauty of the leaves

Enjoy the coolness of the eves

Reap your harvest without delay!
