Looks like it’s Squirrel Sunday here.  I almost got Sera to take a peanut from my hand today.  She wanted so badly to do it, but she just couldn’t get past her fear.  I wish I had a picture to accompany the rhyme. I was too busy being delighted with her antics that I couldn’t grab my camera.  Hubby was too busy staying still and watching the two of us.  He didn’t want to move and grab his camera either.

I offered her a peanut from my hand

So close and yet so far

She came much closer than I’d planned

So close and yet so far

She scrambled all around the tree trunk

So close and yet so far

She showed me she had a lot of spunk

So close and yet so far

Her shining eyes they peered at me

So close and yet so far

She looked at me with her silent plea

So close and yet so far

She wanted badly to take the treat

So close and yet so far

She couldn’t make the deal complete

So close and yet so far

I finally took pity on my little friend

So close and yet so far

And tossed it to her in the end

So close and yet so far

You should write a children’s book about Sera, your love for her, and her antics. I would buy it! 😀

Thank you, Skye ! I’d love to but don’t know where I’d start.

A picture would be great of course, but it works so well without one…. it adds to that feeling of ‘so close and yet so far’ so nicely 🙂
