autumn

It passes fast when seasons change

One minute warm, and then it’s not

Leaving work in the dark is strange

Not my fave, but it’s all I’ve got

I miss my squirrels the most, though

By the time I get home, they’ve gone

Back to their nests and where they go

Not to see them, it seems so wrong

Morning – no birds to waken me

It’s dark and quiet, seems so odd

The little birds are fast asleep

Tucked up safe in the land of nod

The garden looks so brown and dry

As the plants get ready to rest

The trees all kiss their leaves goodbye

Growing time done, they did their best

  1. I miss the happy activity of the birds here too. Our squirrels are very busy burying nuts all over the yard, however. The seasons are definitely changing!

It’s weird how fast it happens, isn’t it?

  3. Donna, I always read about changing seasons in this manner, and I don’t think I’ve ever experienced fall that way. In the South, it seems like we just go from hell hot to cool, maybe cold once in a while, but there’s little color. Things grow all year. MTM really misses the northern seasons. Reading posts like this help me understand what he misses. So thanks for that.

Thanks, Andra. I don’t think I could live without seasons changing. I even love snow.
