It is no secret that I like squirrels
Their bright eyes engage me
They don’t stop to ask for referrals
They just show up trustingly
They know I will give them food
I put out peanuts, corn and seeds
I know they won’t be rude
They are only satisfying hungry needs
Their eat their fill of the tasty peanut
And bury some for later
It’s only right they fill their gut
And keep some for when need is greater
They just delight me with their antics
Their grace and charm amaze
They can be goofy and sometimes frantic
But never boring with their ways
So think me silly if you will
I am a huge fan of Sciuridae
“Squirrel whisperer” describes me still
In my heart they will always stay
