Well, that didn’t last long. I just cancelled my Weight Watchers online subscription. After just over a day of trying to make it work (again) for me, I gave up on it.
I was a Weight Watchers member years and years ago (when I was in my early 30’s). I lost 65 pounds on their Selection plan. It was very similar to Richard Simmons’ old Deal-A-Meal program. You had so many fruits, vegetables, dairy, protein, fats/oils, etc. It was based on the food pyramid. THAT worked for me. Points do not. They never have.
I already had a premium membership with LoseIt so I’ll go back to using that and stick with it this time. LoseIt counts calories. I just have to make better choices, track it all and stick with it.
I remember everyone raving way back when at the time Weight Watchers first went to Points. “Oh, I can eat anything!” I hated it from the moment they conceived it. It has never worked for me. I am always, always, always over on Points (even with using the extra ones they so generously give you), and I end up feeling like a failure. I lost no weight on the Points program, and I always gave up. I have joined and quit too many times to count.
Points work if you’re the type of person who can eat fruits and vegetables 24/7 (a vegetarian). I can’t do that. I have IBS. Too much fruit and too much vegetables, and I’m miserable. Most of the fruit and most of the vegetables are zero point foods so if you load up on them you don’t use your points and you’re full of all that stuff I can’t digest properly.
I tracked my breakfast on Weight Watcher this morning – 19 points. I only had 37 for the entire day. I tracked the exact same breakfast on LoseIt – 462 calories. I then went through with LoseIt and filled out breakfast, lunch and snacks. I didn’t do dinner because I don’t know what I’m having yet – I STILL have 800 calories left. It’s a no-brainer which app works better for me.
Goodbye, Weight Watchers (and Oprah – To be brutally honest, I don’t think you’re a very good weight loss role model, anyway, and half of the stuff that comes out of your mouth is not worth listening to.). I already canceled my membership.
