I spent most of my High School years wandering around with a steno pad in my hand. I was always writing stories – stories that were fictional in nature and starred the exploits of me and my friends. Weβd share a table at lunchtime and read what each other had written. Those early efforts would likely be a great source of embarrassment if they were to be read today! The group certainly had a lot of laughs over them at the time.
My writing career took a backseat to life for many years and didn’t resurface until a few years ago when a good friend suggested writing (or blogging) as something I might be good at and enjoy. My husband had changed careers and became a tractor trailer driver. My sons had grown into young men who no longer required quite so much of my time or attention. I needed something to fill my spare time. I began to write.
I enjoy writing, playing my bass guitar, reading, photography, and spending time with my family. I live in Rochester, NY with my husband, two sons, three cats and a lovebird.
Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy my blog. It’s a little bit of everything – here, there and everywhere.
I can be reached at donna@heronthereeverywhere.us.
You simply must come to Florida, they are everywhere here.
You would be delirious~

I try to find them here, but it’s hit or miss. I used to work south of the city where there are ponds and marshes, and I saw one nearly every day. I work downtown now, and I never see them. I would love to live where I could see herons all the time, but I don’t think I’d like the heat in Florida. I enjoy the change of seasons too much. I find snow beautiful.

Thanks for the follow π The heron picture drew me in to yours. We have many blue herons here in the southern area of Canada that I live in. I would be happy to email you some pictures if you like.

Thanks so much for visiting my photo journal and leading me here!! I see we both love the graceful, majestic herons which grace our planet!! I particularly like the heron on your banner as the colors and tones are just gorgeous. I guess that particular one must be a ‘gray heron’ ? It is lighter in color than the typical Great Blue Heron and looks like a color variant actually. Not a wurdemann’s though as that is a mix of a Great White morph and the Great Blue and has a white head including the crest plumes..and yours while very light has the black head plumes. Visit me anytime and I’ll enjoy visiting your lovely blog likewise!! π Thanks again!!

Judy: It was an image I purchased online. I don’t remember now if it said what type of heron it was. I liked it because of the colors – it fit in well with the color scheme I had in mind. I guess he must be a gray heron – now that I look it up online and see the difference. I see they are native to Europe, Asia and Africa – that explains why I’ve never seen that color variation here. I love herons. I wish I could see more of them here. My dream is to one day have a really great camera and be able to photograph them more. I have always loved their uniqueness and their majestic bearing. I think they are so beautiful.

Love your self introduction – especially the lines, “Why herons? Why not? I think they are awesome! They are majestic and graceful. They are solitary and strong.” We should all strive to be just that. I also quite like your gravatar image. They work well together. Thanks for the award nominations. They mean a lot.

I was ‘on the road’ a lot. Partly with my husband in England (who has been in hospital for most of 2016) then to my sister and finally my daughter in Scotland. Then to Portugal for New year with my son and our little grandchildren. It was hectic but fun as my daily life is busy but very quiet until we get some firm diagnosis with hubby. Wishing you a great 2017 – that’s what I’m hoping for too!
