Tenacious Tuesday #1

For my first post on a Tuesday in 2018, I’m introducing Tenacious Tuesday. Tenacious Tuesday is all about hanging tough and keeping going. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

I’d like to think that is what I do on a daily basis. I keep going. 2018 is about keeping going for me. I will persevere and rise above.

I’m going to try something a little bit different this year on Heron, There & Everywhere. I’d like to attempt to follow a themed approach. Each day will have its own theme. I’ve tried to stick with what I know and what I like.

Mondays will be Musical Monday. I will write about anything music-related from my favorite bands, songs or concerts. Music is a huge part of my daily life.

Tuesdays will be Tenacious Tuesday. Tenacious Tuesday will be about challenges and hanging in there when life knocks me down. As a trucker’s wife, every day is a challenge.

Wednesdays will be Wellness Wednesday, and I’ll write about anything health-related that my family deals with – autism, ADHD, diabetes, celiac disease, diverticulitis, etc.

Thursdays will be Thoughtful Thursday. Those posts will be more random in nature from poetry to creative writing to random musings.

Fridays will be Fictional Friday, and that will be the day I post book reviews and anything book-related.

Saturdays will be Sentimental Saturday. I will write about my favorite things. My beloved squirrels will probably show up here.

Sundays will be Silent Sunday. This day will be photos only, no words. I love photography and have thousands of photos.

It is my hope that following a more organized approach will keep me writing more consistently in 2018. Please let me know what you think.

Always Jonesing for a Good Book

Give me a reason to read
A devastating male lead
I want a heroine tough
Some action a wee bit rough

Genres? Tried pretty much all
Romance is my siren call
I hate drama and horror
One’s scary, one’s a borer

Romance sub-genres wide spread
Billionaires, bikers, undead
Historical and modern
They all seem to get a turn

Motorcycle gangs are fine
I love a bad boy; he’s mine
If he has a heart of gold
Totally, completely sold

Rock stars are my kryptonite
Guitars and pants they keep tight
I love their bands and their life
It’s all glamour, glitz and strife

Vampires, weres, witches are cool
Their strength, speed, skills all rule
The undead scene in the night
Just not too graphic, alright?

I hate excess violence
It makes me sick and too tense
An animal dies, I’m done
A happy ending is rule one

I prefer love and romance
That sweet, tense, intricate dance
Not too much angst or delay
They just cause stress and dismay

I want a book I can’t drop
One that consumes me full stop
That kind are seldom and rare
Is there one like that out there?

Our Love

ringsOur love sometimes seems so unreal

Especially the way you make me feel

Coming up on twenty-seven years

Good love is harder than it appears

We work hard to stay together

There are storms we’ve had to weather

Distance love is not for the weak

Nor is it for the timid or the meek

Your voice on the phone is what I crave

Whenever I feel lost or less than brave

I’ve cried my share of lonely tears

But I know you suffer the same fears

Hard to believe we’ve been “us” for so long

And the passion and love is still so strong

You’d like me to come out in the truck

But I don’t have the wanderlust or pluck

So I keep the home fires burning

While you keep the truck wheels turning

Some day soon we will be in the same place

And I again get to see your sweet face

For more than a night or two at a time

And my happiness will be sublime

I miss blogging. I really do.

How does everyone manage it?

I’d like to share a thought or two

I am devoid of every bit

I am having problems with stress

Hard work messing with blood pressure

Feels like my life is just a mess

Need a bit of a refresher

Taking care of me needs my time

Need to slow it down a bit more

Less work and school, more fun and rhyme

Life is worth it, and that’s for sure
