Stinkers climbing up to the window and up into the rafters in the basement.
On Saturday two new family members will be coming home.
Most everyone knows I lost my sweet 15 year old cat, Ginger, to cancer in April. While I know I can never ever replace her I am ready to open my heart to another cat who needs a home.
I found a sweet mama cat who was found as a stray with her two kittens. The very next day after she was picked up two other orphan kittens were found. The two new (unrelated) kittens were given to the mama cat, and she took them in as if they were her own. She’s been nursing the four kittens in a veterinarian’s home who fosters cats.
The kittens and mama are now ready for adoption. I went to see mama a week ago, and she was quite shy. She hid in the cat tree, but she was purring so loudly we could hear her on the other side of the room.
I deliberately did not pay attention to the kittens. I was there for mama. While I was talking, I had a kitten on each foot and one between my feet. A second later kitten number four began to climb my leg.
I was delighted with these little babies. The orange guy climbing my leg stole my heart. Someone was originally supposed to be coming to look at him, but they backed out.
Since he seemed to have chosen me, I decided that shy mama might do better with one of her kittens with her.
Mama and son have been fixed and they come home on Saturday. Since I had a Ginger, Mama is going to be called Nutmeg (Meg), and junior is Dashiell (Dash). He’s a dash of nutmeg.
I’ve never had a kitten before. I’m terrified! I just hope both new kitties like my 11 year old Chase. He’s my diabetic cat. He’s a lovable mush, but he’s only lived with Ginger who did not like other cats at all. He put up with her bad temper for nine years. How he will react to these two is unknown. I’m hoping he finds them to be sweet tempered companions.
Wish us luck. I’ll post more after they arrive.
